John J. Janssen was born in Corpus Christi, Texas. He earned a B.A. from Southwestern University in 1987, an M.A. from Yale University in 1989, and a J.D. and Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin in 1993 and 1996, respectively. He served as a staff attorney for the Thirteenth Court of Appeals for the State of Texas, an assistant county attorney for Nueces County, and as a college instructor at various institutions of higher education before entering private practice on a full-time basis. He is the author of Constitutional Equilibria, published by University Press of America in 2002, and articles in The Review of Litigation and Constitutional Commentary , and is a member of the State Bar of Texas Appellate Section, the Texas Association of Defense Counsel, the American Bar Association - Intellectual Property Section, and the Texas Bar Foundation.
